Proof

One deploy, start to finish.

Download, run the configurator, apply Terraform, run the installer — and an app is live on your own subdomain with a valid certificate.

“I built Brain Stack because I run these apps for Mock Brains on an Oracle A1 instance. The scripts in the kit are the ones I use.”

— Chad, Founder, Mock Brains
  • v1.0.1 · updated October 2026
  • 16 apps · 3 infrastructure components
  • Every image pinned by digest
  • Apps start locked to your IP range

What it replaces

Stop renting what you can run.

Most of these apps replace a subscription you already pay for. A solo operator replacing half of them typically clears $100–$200 a month in list prices.

What's in the kit

A ZIP you run from your own computer. No Git, no GitHub account, no cloning. Extract it, open START-HERE.html, follow the guide for Windows, macOS or Linux.

Terraform configuration

Provisions the Oracle Cloud A1 instance, networking and storage, with the 12 GB and 24 GB profiles built in.

Browser configurator

Runs locally. Pick apps, enter your domain and administrator IP range; it estimates RAM against your profile and generates your deployment config.

Installer

Sets up Docker, Traefik and automatic HTTPS, then installs your selected apps from their official upstream images, pinned by digest.

Host manager

An optional private web dashboard, terminal UI and JSON CLI for starting, stopping, updating and backing up apps — reachable over SSH or Tailscale even while Traefik is down.

Backup tooling

restic-based backups with a systemd timer, plus a restore guide and drill. Running them is on you; the tooling is included.

Reference docs

Seventeen guides: prerequisites, Oracle account setup, DNS, Tailscale for private apps, post-deployment hardening, backup and restore, the billing warning.

Catalog

A catalog of 16 apps, plus the infrastructure to run them

Choose what to deploy. Each app is a separate open-source or source-available project, installed from its official upstream source onto your server. Mock Brains does not host these applications.

License types are informational and may change. The Sustainable Use License (n8n, NocoDB) permits internal business use and restricts hosting these apps as a service for others. AGPL-3.0 apps require sharing source code if you modify and provide network access. Full license notes, including the supporting containers, are in the disclosures below.

Deployment

How it works

From download to a running app in four steps.

  1. 01

    Create an Oracle Cloud account

Free; a card is required for identity. Set a $1 budget alert first — the docs show where. Oracle controls its free tier and can change it.

  2. 02

Run the configurator in your browser

Choose apps, enter your domain and administrator IP range. It estimates RAM against your profile and warns before you provision anything.

  3. 03

    Apply Terraform

Provisions the A1 instance in your home region. Capacity varies by region; the guarantee covers it.

  4. 04

    Run the installer over SSH

Traefik issues certificates and Uptime Kuma comes up at uptime.yourdomain.com. Add the rest of your apps from the host manager.

Fit

Who it's for

Right fit

  • Solo founders and small teams paying for five or more SaaS tools
  • Consultants and operators who want their own automation and support stack
  • Anyone who wants their data on a server they control
  • People comfortable in a terminal and able to add a DNS record

Wrong fit

  • You want managed hosting or a support SLA
  • You need Postiz plus everything else on the free profile
  • You will not set a budget alert or read a log file

FAQ

Questions buyers ask before they run their own stack

What exactly am I buying?

A ZIP (v1.0.1) with setup scripts written by Mock Brains: Terraform for the Oracle instance, a browser configurator, Docker Compose definitions, the installer, a host manager, backup tooling and seventeen reference docs. The apps themselves — n8n, Ghost, Uptime Kuma and the rest — are separate open-source and source-available projects. The installer downloads them from their official sources onto your server, under their own licenses.

Do I need technical experience?

You should be comfortable in a terminal: running commands, connecting over SSH, adding DNS records. The scripts do the heavy lifting; when something goes wrong you will be reading logs. If that sounds fine, you are the right buyer.

Is deployment really free?

On a Free-only Oracle account you get 2 OCPUs and 12 GB (Oracle, October 2026); pay-as-you-go accounts have reported 4 OCPUs and 24 GB at no charge. The kit's 12 GB profile is the default. Set a $1 budget alert before you deploy and check Cost Analysis after 48 hours. Oracle controls its terms; we cannot guarantee any deployment stays free, and cloud charges are yours.

Can I run everything at once?

Not on the free profile. The configurator estimates RAM for your selection and warns when it will not fit. Postiz alone needs about 4.5 GB because it ships Temporal and Elasticsearch. The presets above fit the 12 GB profile; everything except Postiz is about 9 GB; the full catalog needs the 24 GB pay-as-you-go profile.

What is the guarantee?

Fourteen days. If the scripts cannot complete your deployment, or your region has no Always Free A1 capacity, email support@mockbrains.com with your order number and the logs or the region you tried, and you get a full refund to the original payment method. It does not cover Oracle charges, third-party services, or changing your mind.

What support do you provide?

Best-effort email support for the setup scripts at support@mockbrains.com, and updates for 12 months; you keep the last version forever. The third-party apps have their own documentation and communities — we do not support them, Oracle Cloud account issues, or general infrastructure troubleshooting.

What happens after I pay?

Stripe sends you straight to your download and we email a re-download link. Extract the ZIP, open START-HERE.html, and follow the guide for Windows, macOS or Linux. No Git or GitHub account is required.

What about backups?

The kit includes restic-based backup tooling with a systemd timer, a restore guide and a restore drill. Running and testing backups is your responsibility; we cannot recover data you did not back up.

Why Oracle Cloud, and can I use another provider?

Oracle's Always Free tier currently includes Arm compute that can run a stack like this with no instance cost. The trade-off is a less familiar console and regional capacity limits. The Terraform and installer target Oracle's Ampere A1 instances; adapting the kit to AWS, GCP, Hetzner or DigitalOcean is outside what the product supports.

Disclosures

Important disclosures

Read these before purchasing. They are the same obligations you accept at checkout.

You are buying setup scripts only

The Mock Brains Brain Stack package contains the Terraform configurations, configurator, installer, host manager, backup tooling and documentation created by Mock Brains. The third-party applications are separate projects with their own licenses, downloaded and installed from their official upstream sources onto your server during deployment. Mock Brains does not sell, distribute, license, host, or provide support for those applications, and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Oracle Corporation or any of the application projects. Product names are used only to describe compatibility.

Third-party applications have their own licenses

Each application has its own license terms: permissive (MIT, Apache, BSD), copyleft (AGPL, GPL, LGPL), and source-available (Sustainable Use License, SSPL / Elastic License 2.0). Supporting containers installed alongside the apps carry their own licenses: GPL-2.0 (MySQL, MariaDB), GPL-2.0 / LGPL-2.1 (HAProxy), BSD-3-Clause (Redis), BSD-2-Clause (nginx), and SSPL / Elastic License 2.0 (Elasticsearch, used by Postiz). Some licenses restrict commercial use or hosting for others, or require source disclosure if you modify and distribute the software. You are responsible for reviewing and complying with each application's license.

Cloud billing and Oracle Free Tier terms are your responsibility

You are solely responsible for all Oracle Cloud, domain registration, DNS, email relay, LLM API and other third-party charges. Oracle's documentation lists 2 OCPUs / 12 GB for Always Free tenancies (October 2026) and pay-as-you-go tenancies have been reported at 4 OCPUs / 24 GB; Oracle may change, limit, or discontinue Free Tier offerings at any time, provides no SLA or support for Always Free resources, may reclaim idle instances, and does not guarantee capacity in any region. Service limits in Oracle's console show what you may create, not what is free. Mock Brains makes no guarantee that any deployment is or will remain free, and resource estimates in this product are for planning only. Set a budget alert and monitor your billing dashboard, especially during your first deployment.

This is not managed hosting, and there are no uptime, performance or savings guarantees

The Brain Stack helps you set up self-hosted infrastructure on your own cloud account. Ongoing maintenance, updates, security patches, credential management, backups, monitoring and troubleshooting are your responsibility. We cannot and do not guarantee server uptime, application availability, performance, security, or any specific cost savings. Results depend on your configuration, usage, and factors outside our control.
